Are you an organised, motivated professional looking for a flexible, part-time role at the heart of a vibrant village community? Therfield Parish Council is seeking a Parish Council Clerk to join us for 4 hours per week, earning around £15 per hour, depending on experience.
About the Role
As the Clerk to the Council, you will act as the Council’s Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer. You’ll be key to the smooth running of parish affairs, from administering and recording meeting minutes to managing communications and supporting financial oversight.
Key duties include:
• Preparing agendas and taking accurate minutes for Council meetings
• Managing correspondence and public enquiries
• Supporting councillors with administrative and statutory requirements
• Maintaining financial records and helping manage the Council’s budget
• Ensuring the Council complies with legal and regulatory obligations
Ideal Background
We’re looking for someone with:
• Strong administrative or PA experience
• Business management and organisational skills
• Confidence with emails, Word, Excel, and basic record-keeping
• A good eye for detail and ability to work independently
• Bookkeeping or basic finance experience
Prior knowledge of local councils is useful, but training can be provided
