THERFIELD PARISH COUNCIL – CHAIRMANS REPORT 05/05/2020

First part of my report is to say a big thank you to everyone who first established and then ran and administered the Council Help Line for residents of Therfield during the current Coronavirus lockdown. From the few people I have spoken to (at a distance!), it has been very well received.

A second thank you to all “others” who have also helped the more needy of the village by performing DIY jobs and performing shopping trips. Overall, a very troubled and sad time for all of us…..brought home to me personally when I was asked to padlock the playground !!….strange times indeed!

I have been in email contact with Colin Smith of the Conservators and will try and set up a Zoom or Whatsapp call after our meeting to establish the current thinking on both sides with regard to next steps on cutting the greens.

Overall, I think we are now starting to build a much better relationship with the Conservators and look forward to working with Colin Smith and Robert Law (who have been designated as the Conservators responsible for contact with Therfield PC).

Although quite a strange end to my first year as Chair, I have enjoyed the challenge of holding that position and have very much appreciated the support all Council members have given during the last year. A further big thank you to our Clerk …Helen, who has had to perform some considerable “hand-holding” whilst I get up to speed with the intricacies of the job.

Thank you all.

Andy Osbourne
